HobbyKing Y-3 tricopter which is Yet an even older and larger design built from Fiberglass and wood. It's popped up in searches a few times and always caught my eye when it did. It's been discontinued for quite a while so used is the only way to go. Knew it was big, but I really had no idea how large it was till I pulled it out of the box. 550mm between the motors large. Came loaded up with a KK2, 400hz PWM ESCs, non-programmable RGB LED lighting, and a decent high speed digital all metal servo. Plugged it in and briefly pondered playing with the KK2, then decided to pull it all out and bring it up to modern tech. Here's the rats nest of wires. Most of which are no longer necissary:
For size comparison purposes, Here's a shot of it next to one of my Baby Tricopters, and also not fitting on my build mat.
Started rebuilding from the tail and am moving forward. Removed the whole mechanism, cleaned it up, and added feedback wire from the servo potentiometer back to the FC.
Gave it a good test and centered the servo before reattaching it to the frame.
I've completed mounting all the new motors and checking for prop clearance up to this point.
